SKY-HIGH WALLS VS. WINGED IDEAS

We got a two-room exhibition at Weimar while the “Rundgang 08″ was running. This was a chance to get in contact with industrial designers and of course a whole bunch of interesting artists, with whom we hope to develop new products and ideas.

Our exhibition explored the past and the future of Blouzaat, all at once. This was a great opportunity to present the next generation of Blouzaat, our first work born out of our cross cultural dialogue concept. Those artworks, a cooperation between Ahmad Sabbagh and our friend “Keos”, dealt directly with the “wall”. The wall concerns Germans as well as Palestinians, but it’s also a global issue, affecting all nationalities, and all races. Fortunately the wall in Germany no longer exists, but there is yet one left to tear down. Walls of insecurity and fear, of oppression and segregation, can not be allowed to exist.

THE PAIN PROOF MAN WEARS BLOUZAAT

We’ve been hiding away in our little cave dreaming up our latest installment of the blouzaat epic (modest aren’t we); our own publication documenting all the trash we came with. We’ve been taking pictures of blouzaat’s baby steps, writing down notes and shoving our illustrations down its throat. We’ve put together all our stuff throughout the process in this book, which is basically our diary from the second of conception to this moment. We’re still looking for a publisher, and hopefully this book will be available soon. It wont be for free but its worth getting if your a hard core blouzaat groupie, or even if you’re just a regular art and design junkie. The book will also have a freebie; a cd with all the fonts we created especially for our first collection.

Spacial thanks to our friend Hussein Alazaat for the wicked calligraphy work.
