An exhibition by Typism (Michael Schinkoethe), Akut (Falk Lehmann), and Ahmad Sabbagh, from Blouzaat, Expired is the culmination of the artists’ cross cultural visual dialogue, exploring the innermost, basic human faults and vices, shared by all of humanity across the globe. This is the artists’ definition of the dying infant world of today.

The opening is on Tuesday, April 14, 2009

6pm - 8pm

The exhibition will run until Thursday, July 16, 2009

THE ANTI-HERO

We are no body’s hero. Those out there who seek salvation should turn their eyes elsewhere. We make no promises to any who demand them. The underdog leads no pack, reigns over no realm. We simply, and quite bluntly, do not care. Those who, on the other hand, look up to no one, staring blandly at a disinterested world are more than welcome.

Blouzaat gives you one such wily individual, in a one-man-exhibition right in our own store. Omar Zo’bi [from Fann 3arabi and Daftar Tajreebi] will be showcasing some original artwork in his exhibition, Socially Murdered.

We’ll let Omar tell you  the story of “Socially murdered” in his own words:

They are people that you either ignore in the street for not being visually pleasing, or would be the centre of your gossip for the day because they’re just “weird”. Ones that are not very familiar with fitting in the society as well as you do, and find comfort in strange situations and habits

They’re introverts by nature, and ones that do not conform to the common beauty standards. They have been judged by their looks and had stories made up about them. We’re not asking you to love them, but possibly re-consider the difference and look deeper to find some sort of a common human identity.

Anyway, they’re visiting Amman, on canvas.

They will be part of the first art exhibition of Omar Al-Zo’bi  which will be taking place in Blouzaat - Jabal Amman, on the 31st of August, 2008 at 7:30 PM.

Watch out for Abu Shanab Monster!
